It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a side that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the chance.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it was a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," stated Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was out her side required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing rival teams at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as leader.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
