The courageous student threw back a explosive device from Hamas attackers before being taken hostage in the attack on Israel two years ago, says the other Nepalese student he saved.

"My survival would not have endured if the two grenades had detonated. Bipin exhibited courage and threw the grenade out," the survivor shared with news sources.

He was commenting after the defense forces identified his companion's body as being one of four dead captives returned by Hamas under the Gaza ceasefire accord.

The young student was twenty-three and working on a agricultural community when he was taken by Hamas into captivity along with 250 others on 7 October 2023. It remains unknown how or when he passed away.

The student's loved ones hoped right up to the negotiation cutoff that he could be among living hostages returned on the specified date, but he wasn't, and a subsequent day their deepest concerns were confirmed.

Assault Details

The student, his friend and 15 other Nepalese farming students had been in Israel for just over a short period when Kibbutz Alumim was assaulted.

"We were aware that there could be a war in Israel. But we had no idea that there could be any ground attack of that magnitude," the survivor said. "We believed that there could be missile attacks and we would be protected if we remained underground, in the shelters."

For the students who'd been invited under the Israeli government's "Earn and Learn Programme" it was a significant chance to improve circumstances for themselves and their families in Nepal.

The survivor credits his safety to his friend's courage.

"At the time of the assault, two grenades were thrown near the shelters. My friend picked up a device and threw it away; another exploded inside. Due to that explosion, I and four others were wounded," he recalls.

"Bipin was safe at that moment. If both grenades had detonated, I would not have been speaking with you like this."

10 of the Nepalese individuals were lost in the assault. Bipin was the only one taken hostage.

"We saw each other for the last time when he and others were being shifted to another bunker," the survivor says. "Because, after the injury, was immobile and remained stayed in the initial bunker. Later discovered that there were two attacks in the bunker where he took refuge and he was taken prisoner from there."

Remembering Bipin

The 27-year-old says he experiences profound grief after hearing about his colleague's passing. He and his companion were classmates in their educational institution in Tikapur, Nepal.

"We undertook every attempts from our perspective to secure his freedom. We attempted everything. But yesterday, we had to face such shocking news. All of Nepal is in grief. Personally do not know how to express. I have limited expression to explain my sorrow."

The survivor explains his friend and other colleagues had the identical aspiration of making little earnings and establishing their own enterprise after coming back from the educational opportunity in Israel.

"He enjoyed participating in soccer and basketball. We would converse for hours about our ambitions and aspirations. My friend wanted to get his physique in good shape and to buy a new device. We even created a musical piece about friendship with a device. He also talked about presenting himself in a music video."

Aftermath

On the specified date, the Israeli military said they suspected the student was "killed in detention during the initial period of the war". There exists no method of externally verifying that.

But should this be the situation, Dhan Bahadur said, the international community should ask Hamas about why it happened.

He said he had not received any assistance from national authorities following his wounding but wished the Israeli government would assist his friend's relatives.

The student's close relatives have withheld any comment so far.

Footage from 7 October depicted him walking inside a medical facility in Gaza City. His family received no indication of survival for a twelve months, until the Israeli military released a video of him in captivity around that period.

Relatives described the footage as "proof of survival" just moments before the truce agreement was agreed, and were hoping for a miracle.

Now in his hometown of Bhimdutta municipality the student's family are mourning after hearing news of his death.

Family Response

His female relatives had traveled to the US to lobby for the release of captives, the student's relative family member told media.

The relative says the household has limited expression to explain the sorrow. "His mother and sister are coming back from America on Thursday. The father is not in the condition to articulate the suffering in words."

Meanwhile it remains uncertain when the student's remains will be repatriated to his family.

Israel is undertaking required arrangements to repatriate his body to Nepal, as it completed for the other students who perished, the country's ministry of foreign affairs said.

"The authorities are all shocked by the information of the student's death. In this time of grief [we] offer our {deep|pro
