Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

With a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This means them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
