Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Police then found multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for details.
A high-ranking official commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
